The technical GHL Workshop at BIREME is reaching its end. It was a
great opportunity to get we all in touch around new concepts,
information, knowledge and also to exchange experiences and to know

As part of the main lines of action for the implementation of the GHL , WHO is promoting a workshop for the technical representatives of its 6 Regional Offices. The workshop will be held at BIREME, in São Paulo, Brazil, in the week of 26 to 30 of March 2007.

Radically increasing access to information and scientific evidence on health, particularly in developing regions, is the main reason that led the World Health Organization (WHO) promote the creation of the Global Health Library (GHL), which is part of its strategy of knowledge management in global public health.

All international organizations and an increasing number of national governments have considered democratic and universal access to updated scientific information an essential condition for progress in general. Moreover, they also take into account improvement of life conditions, particularly towards better individual and collective health, as well as development and strengthening of national research, education and healthcare systems.
