Welcome to the GHL Collaborative Space

This is the online space to share information, ideas and experiences on building and enhancement of the Global Health Library (GHL).

The space was launched during the GHL workshop at BIREME, in São Paulo, Brazil, in the week of 26 to 30 of March 2007. It will be the collective instance for the management of the operation of the GHL world wide.

The Global Health Library (GHL) Technical Workshop was finished on Friday 30 March 2007 after a week of activities led by BIREME/PAHO/WHO. The workshop was addressed to share the methodological and technological platform with the information specialists from the WHO Regional Offices.

An intensive program covered the GHL framework, the structure, implementation, operation and customization of the GHL Portal, the methodology and tools to operate the information sources, quality control and data workflow. The workshop was also enriched with an online collaborative space that was operated by the participants, in
order for them share ideas, information, comments, experiences and recommendations
on the development of the workshop as well as on the GHL initiative.


During the closing section all the participants agreed on a list of recommendations, topics and activities to be carried out in the coming months in order to adopt and adapt the workshop methods and tools and implement the GHL at the Regional Levels. The collective management and operation will take place through the online collaborative space.

The main recommendation topics are related to the organization of the regional workshops, the implementation of the GHL Portal in each region, the translation of the portal and documents into several languages including Arabic and French and the adoption of common standards for the operation of the information sources in the GHL
Portal.

The document acceded on the link above contains a draft list of the topics and recommendations agreed in the closing section. This list of topics will be reviewed by the participants in the next 2 weeks to produce the final version.
